History

Antique dealers in Mons from father to son , we have made our name and reputation over time through the relationship of trust we have with our customers as well as the quality and authenticity of what we sell.

Benoît Tercelin de Joigny was born in 1952 . He studied  cabinet-making at Saint-Luc, Tournai. He then set up on his own in 1978 in the outbuildings of the family chateau in Mons,  first as a restorer and then gradually  buying and selling furniture,  antique objects and paintings. The family collections trained his eyes, but his knowledge grew with practice in the field.

In 1985, he transferred his shop and workshop to the centre of Mons in a house dating from the 1900's.

Over time, he turned to the art of the table in addition to furniture and silverware. He was joined in 2004 by his son Sebastien Tercelin de Joigny.

For the thirtieth anniversary of the business in 2008 , the shop was fully restored and redeveloped, both inside and out.

Sébastien Tercelin de Joigny was born in Mons in 1983. He studied in Paris at the IESA (Institut d'Etudes Supérieures des Arts). He graduated  in 2004 presenting a thesis on the goldsmiths of Mons in the eighteenth century.

But it is since he was  6 years old that he developed his passion for antiques. He followed his father to meet clients and to antique fairs. Learning on the spot his passion for antiques has developed from an early age.

He started as an independent in 2004. Building from his thesis and lectures given for the city of Mons, he  wrote a book which was published in 2010 : " Le XVIIIe siècle àMons : siècle d'or...et d'argent " ( the 18th century in Mons : century of gold ... and silver).
